The NGO Càritas Diocesana de Barcelona has recognized the social value of two business projects conceived by TBS Master and Bachelor students and has awarded them with two honorific distinctions.

Each year, Càritas selects among all the business projects developed by TBS students as part of their study plan those that stand out for their social value and viability. One of this year’s awarded projects has been a Master students’ business plan to launch children swimwear made of high sun protection fabric, which would help parents to protect their children from the sun and would raise the awareness for skin care.

The other awarded project is a Bachelor student’s initiative that aims to help the Muslim collective outside Barcelona metropolitan area with a home-delivery service of halal food. This business idea was conceived within the frame of the Social Innovation & Change study path, which teaches Bachelor students how to start from scratch a business project with social value.

The representative of NGO Càritas, Fernando Porta, highlighted that when deciding how to allocate the honorific distinctions, they consider the social value as well as the viability of the projects. He also mentioned that these Càritas certificates will be an added value for the students’ CV, “as it shows not only your professional skills but also your values, what kind of individual you are”.

The TBS Barcelona campus director, Olivier Benielli, said that “together with Càritas, we want to promote the social value and the capacity to invent of our students”. He also pointed out: “This is a mark of recognition that you can show as part of your career path. May these projects be the first of many more to come”.
