Denmark, followed by Sweden and Norway are the top three best places in the world for women in The US News & World Reports’ Best Countries survey, based on the responses of more than 9,000 women.

Spain occupies rank 18th.

This ranking takes into account five attributes to evaluate the countries: care about human rights, gender equality, income equality, progress and security.

It is little surprise that Scandinavian countries dominated the 2018 list: Northern European countries often rank among the happiest countries on Earth, being praised for their wide array of free public services and social inclusion.

Studies have shown that same countries score particularly high in taking care of their elderly as well, with Danish women over 65 reporting to be the happiest in the European block.
