In May, Barcelona will host a fair dedicated exclusively to artificial intelligence (AI), where an in-depth study on the current state of AI in Spanish companies will be presented. This study, conducted by Silicon Spain and CloserStill Media, aims to analyze the degree of adoption of AI and generative AI in organizations, as well as to identify the most common use cases, barriers and challenges they face, and the economic and social implications of these technologies.

Expert Insights at the Event

The event will feature the participation of over 30 experts from the sector, including manufacturers, integrators, consultants, and end-users of AI in companies. During the event, a debate moderated by Simon Blazeby, Group Director of the Technology and eBusiness Division at CloserStill Media, and Daniel de Blas, Branded Content Manager at Silicon, will take place. The experts will share their insights and experiences on the practical application of AI in the business world, addressing topics such as the potential impact of generative AI, challenges in implementing AI projects, and the opportunities and risks associated with these technologies.

Study Highlights

The study, which was recently launched and will run until early May 2024, expects to gather over 400 responses from professionals and technology leaders. The findings of the study will be presented at a private event on May 13th and publicly showcased on May 14th at the Big Data & AI World fair in Barcelona.

Additionally, it is important to highlight that over the past five years, the number of companies dedicated to artificial intelligence in Catalonia has almost tripled. According to a study by the Catalan government recently presented, there are currently 488 companies specialized in AI, generating almost €2.2 billion and creating over 14,000 jobs. This growth demonstrates that AI “generates employment” rather than replacing it, according to Albert Castellanos, CEO of Catalonia Trade & Investment.

On the other hand, artificial intelligence was one of the main themes of this year’s Mobile World Congress, held in Barcelona in February. This focus on AI underscores its importance and relevance in the current and future technological landscape.

Impact on Education

These trends and developments in artificial intelligence are crucial in the context of the programs offered by TBS Education, such as the MSc Digital Marketing & Analytics and the MSc Digital Transformation & Business Innovation. These programs are designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to lead in the digital age, where artificial intelligence plays a fundamental role in business transformation and digital marketing. Participating in events and studies like this provides our students with a deeper understanding of trends and challenges in the field, preparing them to make a significant impact in the digital business world.
