TBS was awarded Best Innovation Strategy for the project Teaching through comedy: injecting humor into educational videos in the ceremony of the AMBA Excellence Awards 2021, that took place last Friday.

Innovation Award

The award recognizes TBS’s commitment to pedagogical innovation and the school’s efforts to reinvent itself. It also aims to encourage and motivate creative and innovative projects similar to this one. According to the organization, TBS has stood out because “at a time of unprecedented global demand for both quality online learning resources and joy, the school has been able to address both.”

Among the other finalists, there were representatives of the Adam Smith Business School (University of Glasgow), of the Graduate School of Management (MIP Politecnico di Milano), of the Imperial College Business School (Imperial College London), and the School of Management (Harbin Institute of Technology).

TBS’s winning project

The winning TBS initiative is an idea of Professor David Stolin in collaboration with comedian Sammy Obeid. Teaching through comedy is a project that consists of disseminating complex concepts related to finance through humorous videos. The school has already published a dozen videos, all of them very successful. Alongside the videos, the project is also researching the role of humor in business education and outreach in academia.

“The current health crisis has precipitated many changes in the world of education. Our school aims to go beyond mere teaching to meet the expectations of students and teachers. This is what the Inspiring Guest project proposes: teaching that offers innovative experiential learning to stimulate student exchanges and the process of knowledge acquisition. TBS is proud to have received the award for Best Innovation Strategy, which today shines an international spotlight on the work done by our teams in terms of pedagogical innovation.”
