CALL FOR CONTRIBUTORS
We are pleased to announce a call for contributions for TBS Education’s upcoming DBA Conference on applied research in business and management. This event, set to convene at the Barcelona campus of TBS Education, aims at advancing the state of the art and pushing the boundaries of applied business research by addressing the most pressing contemporary issues. The conference will serve as a dynamic platform for DBA candidates, alumni, practitioners, and scholars to exchange innovative methodologies, approaches, and findings in business management research. Special emphasis will be placed on the implications of rapid technological advancements and major societal shifts towards greater social justice, alongside urgent environmental challenges.
The seminar is designed to cultivate an alternative, critical and collaborative environment where researchers will interrogate how cutting-edge theoretical frameworks are being applied to tackle real-world (global) business dilemmas.
We invite contributions that not only apply research to practical business contexts but also critically evaluate these applications against the backdrop of global socio-economic changes and challenges. Contributions may include, but are not limited to, the following areas:
- Governance mechanisms and board responsibility: Studies on corporate governance mechanisms and codes, along with how board roles are increasingly prioritizing responsibility over (mere) compliance within corporate governance frameworks.
- Business strategy and innovation: Studies that scrutinize how businesses are rethinking strategies in response to technological disruption and how they foster innovation within competitive and complex environments.
- Leadership and organizational behavior: Insights into how leadership styles and organizational cultures are evolving in response to external pressures and internal dynamics. This includes a critical examination of the interplay between power structures and cultural norms within organizations, and how these factors drive or hinder the implementation of innovative leadership practices.
- Sustainability and social and environmental justice: Insights into how businesses are incorporating sustainable framework thinking and moral considerations when designing their operations.
- Operations and supply chain management: Applied research examining how companies are optimizing operations to enhance efficiency and manage risks within the limits of global supply chains and environmental constraints.
- Accounting and business analytics: Empirical studies on how (modern) accounting and business analytics are being leveraged to support sustainable decision-making and risk management within businesses. Contributions are encouraged that explore the transformative potential of creative accounting in shaping organizational behavior and achieving sustainable business outcomes.
