Yancy Vaillant, a professor at the TBS Barcelona campus, has obtained the Habilitation to Direct Research (HDR), the official authorization to supervise research. He achieved the qualification with his thesis Discussions and Implications of a Research Trajectory in Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Internationalization.

Vaillant has been a professor at TBS since 2017 when he started teaching Strategy, Entrepreneurship & Innovation in Toulouse, although he had been an associate professor since 2000. He received his Ph.D. in economics in 2006 and later obtained a postgraduate degree in Business Dynamics at MIT.

What is HDR?

The Habilitation to Direct Research is the highest qualification that can be obtained to become a university professor. It is obtained after the doctorate by writing a second thesis. Gaining this qualification gives official recognition of a high scientific level and good skills in managing research strategies. Besides, the qualification allows for the formal supervision of Ph.D. students. A further 33 professors at TBS also hold this distinction.
