Last week, our MSc International Business cohort had the opportunity to visit the Port de Barcelona, where they gained first-hand insight into the operations of Spain’s third-largest port.
The visit began with an introductory conference by Marta Miquel, who covered essential strategic aspects of the Port, including logistics operations and international terminals. Students also explored global trade dynamics and the complexieties of maintaining a balance flow between imports and exports.
Following the presentation, the group took a one-hour boat tour of the harbor. This allowed them to observe container terminal operations up close and identify the various multinational companies integrated into the port’s infrastructure.
The experience was undeniably enriching, highlighting the Port de Barcelona’s strong commitment to sustainability and its status as europe’s leading ferry industry hub.
Finally, Professor Diana-Andreea Filipescu noted:
I believe visits like this are essential to the MSc program, connecting academic concepts with real business practice. Also, they create valuable moments of exchange and networking between our full-time and part-time students through shared extracurricular experiences, strengthening collaboration across cohorts. Diana-Andreea Filipescu in LinkedIn
