In 2024, an impressive 73% of CEOs recognize the superior performance of Chief Marketing Officers (CMOs), a notable increase from 61% in 2022. This positive shift signifies growing confidence in marketing leadership. According to recent findings from a Boathouse survey, CEOs are increasingly acknowledging the exceptional work of marketing directors, highlighting the pivotal role they play in crafting a company’s digital strategy and customer engagement, as explained by Olivier Buigues, program manager of the MSc digital marketing and analytics.Â
The elevation of marketing roles is also mirrored in salary trends. Data from Statista  indicates a significant rise in marketing job openings, with 4,800 new positions in 2023 alone. Prosperity Digital’s “2024 Salary Guide” predicts continued salary growth for marketing professionals, reflecting the escalating demand for their skills. In particular, marketing directors are expected to earn up to €120,000 annually.Â
The surge in digital marketing’s value, with a 145% growth rate in 2022, underscores the industry’s momentum. Buigues emphasizes the necessity for marketers to possess comprehensive digital competencies, including AI-driven techniques like image generation and social network analysis, to devise successful marketing campaigns.Â
Essential qualities for a Digital Marketing Manager, as outlined by Buigues, include strategic thinking, trend awareness, and leadership skills. These attributes are crucial for steering companies through the competitive digital landscape and are fostered in TBS Education-Barcelona’s MSc in Digital Marketing and Analytics program.Â
As the digital landscape evolves, companies are increasingly seeking individuals who not only understand traditional marketing principles but can also navigate and harness the power of digital tools and data analytics to drive business success.Â
