For a couple of years now, Artificial Intelligence has been with us in our daily lives, being used in various ways, both recreationally and professionally, helping to optimize tasks or providing new resources. It is not about replacement, but rather a support tool, which thousands of workers had already been using before it became popular. As early as 2012, researchers at the University of Toronto began using artificial neural networks and deep learning techniques that worked as the bases for the AI systems that we know today, such as ChatGPT, DeepSeek, or Gemini. However, since it is a relatively new technology with constant changes, it’s normal to feel confused. That’s why we’ve prepared this article to introduce the main tools that users and professionals are currently using.
Initially, we find that their developers and the type of licenses they use for users are different, and therefore, will partially determine the usage of each one.
Despite the strengths and weaknesses of each, in the end, the preferred model will depend on the professional field and the use each company plans to give it. However, it is undeniable the widespread use that Artificial Intelligence has, regardless of its model. For example, recent studies published in the International Journal of Information Management and written by researchers from the University of North Carolina described the practical uses and opportunities that Artificial Intelligence creates in the marketing world, emphasizing the efficiency and productivity gained by using AI.
As well as other articles presented by the magazine Thunderbird International Business Review also focus on emphasizing the use of AI in a professional sector, analyzing the impact that it has on international companies. Highlighting how its use promotes improvements in productivity and decision-making, thanks to:
Despite all of these advantages, we must not forget that it is a technology in continuous development, with quick changes providing new opportunities every day, both for its good and bad uses. As the article in Thunderbird International Business Review mentions, not all uses of AI are positive, and as a result, there have been traps and scams under its use. That’s why, now more than ever, to properly understand the tool that we work with or find daily, it is necessary to have basic knowledge—not only to harness its potential but also to avoid falling into scams.
As we mentioned, it is not a replacement but rather an innovation improvement. Therefore, today, programs like our MSc in Digital Transformation & Business Innovation include sessions that help to better understand AI, with a more professional focus on these new tools that allow students to use them both in the workplace and casually. Additionally, for future professionals in the sector, there are programs directly focused on this emerging field, such as our MSc in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence (in Toulouse), which aims to train students not only as users and understanders of AI but also as experts who can drive its continuous development.
