Once again, Barcelona is ranked as one of the best cities in Europe, reaching an impressive 4th place and standing as the highest-ranked city in Spain, according to the prestigious international consultancy, Resonance Consultancy.
Only London, Paris, and Berlin surpass the Catalan capital in this ranking, which evaluates 100 European cities based on livability, cultural appeal, and economic sustainability.
Compared to the previous global ranking published by the same consultancy in November 2024, where Barcelona was ranked as the 5th best city in Europe and the 2nd in Spain (behind Madrid), showing a significant progress.
This achievement, as the report highlights, is due to its privileged climate, unique architecture, rich cultural scenes, sustainable initiatives, and investment in technology. A particular highlight mentioned in the report is the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, which, as announced at the beginning of the year, will host one of Europe’s main AI hubs.
While Barcelona has one of the highest car densities in Europe, it also boasts large areas of pedestrian-only streets. Since 2023, the city has continued to expand its ambitious pedestrianization projects, including green corridors, community squares, and walkable pathways.
Additionally, the city has implemented some of the strictest short-term rental regulations in Europe, adopting a zero-tolerance policy to protect housing access for residents and businesses alike.
