Barcelona’s magnificent architecture, the Catalan gastronomy, a delightful climate, and beautiful local and surrounding coastlines are just some of the features that have made our city the most visited destination of 2025.
This month, eDreams Odigeo’s annual report, A Year in Travel, confirmed that the Catalan capital has surpassed Paris as the world’s destination of preference. It’s no surprise that it’s such a popular spot, as it has always been a renowned vacation hub. With its impressive culture and professional growth, Barcelona has welcomed approximately 9.3 million foreign travelers in just the first half of the year.
Additionally, Spain stands out as one of the top tourist magnets, with four cities in the top 10 most preferred travel destinations for 2025. Barcelona, Madrid, Palma de Mallorca, and Málaga rank highly, and it’s clear that one of the main reasons is the pleasant climate enjoyed for most of the year compared to other European cities.
It’s worth noting that the analysis also predicts that Barcelona and Madrid will remain among the top 10 most popular destinations in 2026.
On the other hand, the Iberian Peninsula is becoming one of the favorites for foreign investment. The sectors attracting the most investment are energy, biotechnology, and real estate. In the first quarter of this year, France was leader in the foreign investments in Spain.
