Barcelona, leader in visitors to congresses and conventions

According to a recent report published by the ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association), Barcelona leads the ranking of the city with the highest number of attendees, with a total of 135,000 in 2022, surpassing Vienna, Paris, Lisbon, Milan, and London.
However, this report also collects other data related to aspects of mass events, despite excluding the Mobile World Congress (MWC) and the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) events in this survey.
Congress organization rate
In the same way, Barcelona has been placed in fourth position as the city with the highest organized congresses rate, only one congress behind Paris.

A new trend in tourism
In recent years, Barcelona has devoted much effort to attracting professional, academic, business, and startup tourism. Even though it is a fact that the number of startups has increased in the city, mass tourism continues to predominate. Congresses and conventions, however, attract professional tourism and talent, which usually translates into high spending in the city.
