Thanks to continuous socio-technological advancements, Barcelona is a city where talented people are shaped to make highly qualified professionals for the future. Therefore, it’s no surprise that Barcelona is one of the favorite cities for investment. Recently, we mentioned how the city has entered the top 5 cities with the most startups, and for years, it has consistently ranked within the top 10 European cities for the highest number of companies.
Given this date, it’s no surprise to see the presence of well-known businesses in Barcelona. In fact, several notable companies have originated here. Some examples include:
Founded in 1997, it is an engineering company specializing in electromagnetic field measurements that designs, distributes, and develops professional instruments to evaluate and manage people’s exposure to electromagnetic fields. WaveControl also has a subsidiary in New Jersey, USA, besides its headquarters in Barcelona.
With headquarters in Barcelona and Mexico, It has been developing software since 2012, specialising in IoT programs. Its platform developed MIIMETIQ, which centralizes, processes, and visualizes data from any source in real time, significantly enhancing companies’ use of their data. Additionally, Nexion provides auditing and consulting services and is recognized as one of Europe’s top IoT companies.
It is a platform created with the support of Barcelona Activa, Feeder is an AI-driven platform that analyzes audience reactions to video content, helping marking designers, content creators and agencies to optimize their emotional impact in their videos. Nowadays has expanded its area to healthcare, helping therapists assess the emotional impact and engagement in their virtual sessions. Feeder partners with international corporations like Semrush and Nvidia.
The ecosystem in Barcelona isn’t only favorable for national projects; within the region’s economic area, there are also giant corporations like HP, Apple, IBM, Amazon, Microsoft, and others. As partners with these companies ourselves, we enable students to participate in internships and establish connections with tech giants during their studies—such as in our collaboration with the German multinational software design company, SAP.
But it’s not only focused on the innovation or software development businesses. International media and content-creation companies like Rakuten or Ubisoft also have a strong presence in Barcelona, along with prominent national media groups such as Grupo Godó and global fashion leaders like Desigual, a company born in Barcelona itself.
Whatever your area of specialization, Barcelona unquestionably offers abundant opportunities for collaboration, creativity, and innovation.
As previously mentioned with our collaboration with SAP, at TBS Education – Barcelona, we continually engage with multiple companies to cultivate the talent of our students. Companies like AXA, Danone, and Amaris frequently collaborate with us, either by welcoming students into internships or by presenting real-world challenges. This approach enables students to gain hands-on experience by directly solving real business problems, allowing them to acquire straightforward experience and develop practical solutions, bridging the gap between academic learning and professional practice. An excellent example is the recent collaboration involving Amaris and Neo Builders at the beginning of the year through the Project Sesame initiative.
As demonstrated, TBS Education – Barcelona fits seamlessly within the opportunities the city provides, creating the ideal environment for students both to study and to launch their careers—something we’re deeply proud of.
